Optometry & optical reporting — frequently asked questions

What Power BI reports does an independent optometry practice need?

The reports that cover the practice end to end are optical capture & conversion (how many exams turn into in-house eyewear), revenue per exam and per patient, frame/lens and contact-lens margin, exam-lane utilization and no-show leakage, payer mix and net reimbursement yield, claims/denials/AR, recall return and reactivation, and a multi-location owner scorecard. Each is available here as a template you can clone.

Do these work with RevolutionEHR, Eyefinity/OfficeMate, Crystal PM, Compulink, or my optical POS?

Yes. You export your data from whatever EHR/PM you run — RevolutionEHR, Crystal PM, Eyefinity/OfficeMate, Compulink, My Vision Express, Acuitas (Ocuco) — and from your optical POS (like Edge by GPN), and the template models it into a Power BI report. The samples here use synthetic data so you can see the finished shape before bringing your own exports.

Is any real patient or financial data used in these templates?

No. Every report on these pages is built from realistic but entirely synthetic data — generic clinic and provider labels, anonymized payers, no real plan member or brand names, no patient information. There is no PHI. When you build your own version, you bring your own export.

How do I turn one of these into my own report?

Click 'Use this as a template' on any report. You'll describe the report (or upload your own CSV exports from the EHR and optical POS), we read and model the data, and you get a fully built Power BI project — a .pbip you open in Power BI Desktop — back in minutes.
