RCM / billing companies reporting — frequently asked questions
What Power BI reports does a medical billing or RCM company need?
The set that covers the book end to end: AR & aging by client (where receivables are stuck), clean-claim and first-pass resolution (front-end quality before submission), denials and root cause (what's getting denied and why), net collections by payer and client (are we collecting the collectible), and biller productivity and cost-to-collect (the unit economics of the operation). Owner and pipeline scorecards sit on top. Each is available here as a template you can clone.
Do these work with athenahealth, AdvancedMD, Tebra, eClinicalWorks or clearinghouse data?
Yes. You export from whatever PM/EHR each client runs — athenahealth, AdvancedMD, Tebra/Kareo, eClinicalWorks, DrChrono — and your clearinghouse (Availity, Waystar, Office Ally), and the template models it into one book-wide Power BI report. The samples here use synthetic data so you can see the finished shape before bringing your own.
Is any real patient or financial data used in these templates?
No. Every report on these pages is built from realistic but entirely synthetic data — anonymized practice names ('Practice 01'), generic payers, and CARC-style denial labels. There is no PHI and no real financial data. When you build your own version, you bring your own export.
How do I turn one of these into my own report?
Click 'Use this as a template' on any report. You describe it (or upload your own CSV export), we read and model the data into the right grain and SUM/SUM measures, and you get a fully built Power BI project — a .pbip you open in Power BI Desktop — back in minutes.
