Add-ons are the cheapest revenue a pet care facility will ever earn: the pet is already on-site, the staff is already there, and an exit bath, nail trim, extra play session or photo is pure incremental ticket. Yet attach rate is one of the least-watched numbers in the business, because the booking software shows it one ticket at a time and never adds it up. This dashboard turns upselling into a measured, coachable program.

What this dashboard answers

The attach page shows total ticket revenue, average revenue per pet, add-on attach rate and add-on revenue share, then breaks attach rate down by add-on type — Exit Bath, Nail Trim, Extra Playtime, Treat & Photo, Medication Admin — and by location, alongside the trend in average ticket. The upsell page surfaces add-on revenue and units sold, ranks add-on revenue by type, compares attach rate by front-desk agent, and stacks base revenue against add-on revenue over time so you see the incremental layer building.

The metrics that matter

Attach rate is the behavior; average revenue per pet is the result. A facility that lifts attach rate even a few points lifts every ticket, and because add-ons are high-margin, that lift drops almost straight to the bottom line. Add-on revenue share tells you how much of your ticket is already incremental, and the by-agent view turns a vague "we should upsell more" into a specific, fair comparison: who attaches add-ons and who doesn't, on otherwise similar stays.

Why the data is trapped

Booking systems record each add-on as a line on a ticket, but they don't compute attach rate — the share of stays with at least one add-on — and they don't attribute it to the agent who booked the stay. Pulling that out means flagging each stay as add-on or not, counting consistently across thousands of tickets, and joining to the front-desk agent, which no canned report does. The result is that most owners genuinely don't know their attach rate. This report makes it a number you watch weekly.

How to read it

Read attach rate and average revenue per pet together — that's the lever and the outcome. Then look at attach rate by add-on type to see which upsells are easy wins versus untapped, and by agent to see who needs coaching versus who should be sharing what works. The base-vs-add-on stack over time tells you whether an upsell push is actually landing. The sample uses entirely synthetic data, so there are no real client or pet records in what you see here.

Frequently asked questions

What is add-on attach rate and how is it calculated?

Add-on attach rate is the share of stays that included at least one add-on — stays with an add-on divided by total stays. It's calculated by flagging each stay 1 or 0 for 'has add-on' and summing that flag over the stay count, so the rate stays accurate even when a single stay carries several add-ons.

Why measure add-on attach rate by front-desk agent?

Because upselling is a learnable behavior, and attach rate varies widely between agents on otherwise similar stays. Comparing attach rate by agent turns 'we should upsell more' into a specific, fair coaching signal — and lets your best upsellers' habits spread to the rest of the team.

Why are add-ons so valuable to a pet care facility?

Because the pet is already on-site and the staff is already paid for, an add-on like an exit bath or nail trim is nearly pure incremental, high-margin revenue. Even a small lift in attach rate raises the average ticket on every stay, which is why it's one of the highest-leverage numbers in the business.
